Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is ps238?
A: Ps238 is a school where children who have metahuman abilities
can learn about their powers as well as recieve a basic education.
It is hoped that an evironment of openness with peers will foster
a more well-rounded upbringing than an adolescence where super-human
powers must remain secret. It is also assumed that this will cut
down on injury and property damage in the long run.
Q: Is the public aware of this school?
A: Yes and no. If you dig deep enough in the correct government
file cabinets, the existance of the school can be easily determined.
The location, however, is not so easy to discover.
Q: So, what would I see if I visited ps238?
A: You'd see Excelsior Public School. The actual facilities and
infrastructure unique to ps238 are located three miles belowground.
Q: Is Excelsior aware of ps238?
A: No. But ps238 benefits its sister school. For example, Excelsior
pays no electrical costs, as our groundskeeper hooked them up
to ps238's fusion reactor.
Q: Do students from ps238 mix with Excelsior's "normal"
children?
A: Yes. This is essential to the ps238 experience, we believe.
Metaprodigies (as we call our students) must learn how to behave
in the presence of those who don't have their enhanced abilites.
Slip-ups do occur, and we have put several devices in place to
cover up any accidental exhibitions of super-powers.
Q: Are your students being trained to fight crime?
A: If that's what their talents lend themselves to, then they
can partake of combat and defensive training, yes. However, we
pride ourselves on teaching every aspect of talent use, and we
have many students who are looking to enter the private sector.
For example, one of our children has the ability to alter appearance
and body fat content in whoever he wishes. Several Hollywood studios
are quite interested in where he will be going after he graduates.
Q: Who is in charge of the school?
A: Alfred Cranston is the principal of ps238.
Q: That name sounds familiar.
A: He has retired from politics.
Q: I could swear I've heard of him. Is he famous?
A: I think you'd rather hear about how we serve students from
outside our state.
Q: How do you serve students from outside your state?
A: I'm glad you asked. We have affordable housing and job placement
for those who wish to relocate to our district (much in the same
manner as the Federal Witness Protection Program). If that isn't
possible for the parents, but they still wish to enroll their
child, we have extensive dormitory facilities on-site.
Q: This sounds great! How do I enroll my metaprodigy?
A: All enrollment forms can be found at your local post office
or nearest federally contracted Super-Hero Team Headquarters.
